About Connect 4

Connect 4 is a turn-based strategy game in which two players try to make an unbroken line of four matching discs. A winning line can run horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. Each turn adds one disc to one of seven columns, and the disc falls to the lowest available space in that column. The shape of the board changes with every move, so a useful placement can also create an opportunity for your opponent.

Choose local two-player mode to compete with a friend on the same device. Both players use the same mouse or touchscreen, taking turns clicking or tapping the column where they want their next disc to land. For solo practice, the game offers Easy, Normal, and Hard AI settings. Light and Dark visual themes and an undo option are also described by the source.

Check for an immediate threat before building a longer combination of your own. A diagonal line can be easy to overlook because its discs sit at different heights. Try to create more than one possible winning continuation, while being careful not to support the exact square your opponent needs. If the board fills completely before either player connects four, the match is a draw.

Tips to win

  • Check horizontal, vertical, and diagonal threats before committing your disc.
  • Look for moves that create two potential winning lines, while avoiding support for an opponent’s immediate win.
