About 2D Chess - Wood Edition
2D Chess - Wood Edition brings a familiar strategy game to a warm wooden board. You can challenge a friend in local multiplayer or choose an AI opponent with different difficulty settings. In a two-player game, both people take turns using the same board, selecting their own pieces and deciding how to respond to the position left by the opponent.
The goal follows classic chess rules: checkmate the opposing king. Click or tap a piece to select it, then choose a highlighted square to make a move. The highlighted destinations help you see where a selected piece can go. A hint button suggests a move in exchange for a hint token, an undo button takes back the last move, and the pause menu provides settings for audio and themes.
Start by protecting your king and bringing several pieces into play instead of repeatedly moving the same piece. Before making a capture, look for an opponent’s piece that could capture yours in return. When playing a friend, agree beforehand whether hints and undo are allowed so both players use the same rules. The local mode suits a deliberate, turn-based contest where planning matters more than speed.
Tips to win
- Before moving, check whether your king or an unprotected piece is under attack.
- Agree with your opponent about using hints and undo before starting a local match.
